Ready to Rock at Design Appetit

EventuresRockRevolution
Next week, OKC is going to have one of the most unique, inventive and tastiest events it’s ever seen. Team Fleuriste is excited to announce that we’ll be participating in Design Appetit!

Design Appetit is a design competition where architecture + interiors + art + food collide for a unique experience.  The event will be held at the Cox Convention Center Exhibit Halls Thursday, March 31 through Saturday, April 2.  The competition benefits Focus on Home, an organization whose mission is to serve families in need by providing the means for a dignified home by creating a clearer path towards a stronger future.

The Fleuriste will be partnering with EventuresToucan Productions and other industry leaders to design a space that will deliver a high end, one-of-a-kind, rock and roll experience for dining guests and public viewing alike. With featured greats like Elton John, Gene Simmons and more, the Rock Revolution theme will be abundant.  From the furnishings to the floral, and from the lights to the sounds, it will be music to the ears for those who take it all in.

In addition, Kelsey Majors will give her take on the theme with a timeless and modern menu selection sure to delight any rock and roll fan’s appetite! Kelsey is a native Oklahoman who grew up with an early love for food and cooking. She started her culinary career in 2003 at Sea Island Golf Resorts in St. Simon’s Island, Georgia. She moved back home in 2008 and began working as a Sous Chef at Belmar Golf and Country Club. In 2011 she became the private chef for a local celebrity and in 2014, offered the position of Executive Chef at Belmar. We are excited to partner with Kelsey and see what she creates for this exciting event!

Floral Family Traditions

Today’s #WeddingWednesday post focuses on a gorgeous couple who seamlessly blended two very different backgrounds and family traditions. Team Fleuriste loved being a part of this stunning wedding and had a blast planning special moments with the bride and groom!

Emmalee & Ben

Emmalee and Ben wanted both families to feel comfortable at their wedding so they took great strides to make sure her Protestant German family was at home with his Catholic Italian family. “The ambiance of the entire evening heartened to the big, Italian festivities Ben was accustomed to, but did it in a softened way that also complimented the more low-key celebrations my family is used to. It was a big party, but the softness of the floral arrangements, the garden theme, the warm, golden lights … all of it subdued the “glitter” to make the night more intimate,” the bride told us.

Emmalee & Ben

The bride and groom poignantly included floral surprises to celebrate several special people. Taking a cue from the flowers his late father would give to his mother, Ben requested a single yellow rose in each arrangement at the wedding. In order to honor her hero, her father, Emmalee requested a boutonniere using Edelweiss (a flower that only grows in certain areas of the Alps). The “Sound of Music” song has always held a special memory for the bride and her father – she even surprised him with the song as their first dance!

Cheers to Emmalee and Ben! To see more photos of this gorgeous wedding, be sure to check out their gallery on our website!

An Evening With Team Fleuriste

Have you heard the buzz about Flower School? Our classes are selling out faster than we can add them to the schedule! If you’ve been interested in taking a class but don’t know what to expect, here is a glimpse into an evening with Team Fleuriste…

We have such a passion for what we do and we love to share that with others! Once a month, the public is invited to sign up online and learn all about the history of flowers as well as the best ways to style them.

The Fleuriste Floral Class

Food, drink and plenty of friendly smiles greet you when you show up to Flower School! Need some encouragement to keep you motivated? Our wine fairies will help you! We offer a very casual and relaxed environment to make sure you are comfortable and stay confident throughout the evening.

The Fleuriste Floral Class

George, our Master Florist, starts the evening by taking you step-by-step through the arrangement he has created. Tips, tricks and little facts about each flower are shared as he creates a masterpiece in front of the class!

The Fleuriste Floral Class

Once he has explained the night’s featured style, its time for the class to start creating! Working at your own pace, you’ll recreate what George has showed the class. Don’t worry – members of Team Fleuriste will be on hand to help you remember things like “How short should I cut this?” or “Where should I put this flower?”

The Fleuriste Floral Class

You’ll love talking to other class students as you bond over a new technique or new type of flower…you might even run in to a distant cousin or long-lost friend from childhood! (Both have happened here!)

The Fleuriste Floral Class

And finally, at the end of the night, you’ll have your completed arrangement and feel like a million bucks. Taking home your creation is a point of pride – amaze your friends and family with your new skills! To show off before you leave, we invite each student to take a picture in front our barn door. You’ll definitely want to be on our Wall of Fame!

Southern Chic

Strap on your boots for Halle & Steve’s rustic, yet charming ranch wedding filled with personal touches from head to toe! Stroud, OK, provided the perfect setting for a wedding styled in southern flair and vintage accents. A one-of-a-kind, awe-inspiring – and truly breathtaking! – floral chandelier created with Eremerus, Curly Willow, Wild Smilax, Amaranthus and other wild flowers hung as the centerpiece of the ceremony.

The reception left no detail unturned: from floral adorned wine barrels at the barn’s entrance to nostalgic photos of the couple’s family, a wagon wheel inspired cake to centerpieces designed in antique french pails and vintage dough bowls.  A unique, bold wall draped in greenery framed the dais and created the perfect backdrop for the new “Mr. & Mrs.”  And no reception would be complete without a floral adorned wagon wheel chandelier, where the bride and groom danced the night away.

From the buffalo sculpture to the bride’s cowboy boots, this wedding was 100% made in Oklahoma and full of southern charm! Cheers to the happy couple!

So, which details are you swooning over?

Rise to the Occasion

We dare you to find something wrong with Kurt Fleischfresser’s innovative and breathtaking 50th floor event space at Vast – V2. Fleischfresser, the new Director and Executive Chef for the space, brought in a team of experts to completely revive and redefine the feeling, design and cuisine (as you can see below)! The Fleuriste participated in the decor of 4 rooms, 4 different concepts, and 1 great collaborative effort to show it all off!

The Infinity Room – Perfectly decorated by Judy Lehmbeck Bridal & Party to highlight this elegant reception space, the flowers were selected to enhance the colors of the linens and extravagant cake (which included just the right amount of bling).

The Skylight Room – With clean lines and a hint of masculinity, Leslie Herring Events went with the “less is more” approach when painting this canvas.

Sports Lounge – Succulents and birch logs accented the new hot spot for all your sporting action. Thunder game from 50-stories up? Yes please!

Chefs Private Dining Room – By far the “pièce de résistance” of V2, Chef Fleischfresser’s heart and soul lie in this room where he will create his most delectable epicurean delights for the most discriminating of clients. We were so inspired we went wild with an edible floral centerpiece filled with hydrangeas, herbs and orchids. New menu item perhaps?

{ After the Holidays, Holiday Party }

IMG_0496

2013 was an exciting year at The Fleuriste!   We finally got through the holidays and realized a social gathering was in order … one where we could unwind and celebrate a great year!  { One where we might just get Elfed Up }

With stunning views of the Myriad Botanical Garden and Downtown Oklahoma City, Team Fleuriste and friends enjoyed hors d‘oeuvres and libations at the beautiful Historic Landmark Colcord Hotel!  The Colcord’s Sullivan Room was the perfect venue and definitely “the place to be” that night!  Bring The Party Productions provided the perfect dance jams and The SNL Booth captured all the fun we were clearly having with their fabulous props and photo booth.
